Waited and waited, and finally, here it is, the release of the updated Cache map in CS2! For many players and especially fans of this map, on March 3, 2025, it became known that the Cache Remake for Counter-Strike 2 was released in the Steam Workshop. What new things will the map bring us? How much has it changed, and what does it look like today? We will discuss this in our article!

In article you will find:

Cache is finally in cs2?

On March 3, one of the designers, Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling, announced via his Twitter account that Cache is returning. He added a post with the caption, “DE_CACHE has returned for @CounterStrike.”

If you already want to play on the new map and try it out yourself, we have to disappoint you a bit, as it is still only a Workshop map, and it has not been officially added to CS2.

However, Valve has consistently included this map in every version of CS, and over time, it also makes its way into the official tournament map pool. So perhaps, in the next major, we’ll see professional teams battling for victory on it!

But if you want to try playing it yourself or with friends, you can download Cache from the Workshop via this link.

What’s interesting about the new Cache?

Now, let’s move on to the most interesting part: the changes to the map itself! To be honest, the new Cache in CS2 looks simply incredible. From a dark and gloomy map, the creators tried to make something brighter, and they succeeded. The map has a lot of different grass, trees, and greenery. The overall brightness level of the map is slightly increased, and many different lighting elements have been added.

Here are a few photos where you can see the new map better. You have to admit that it looks much brighter now.

In addition to the light, a lot of work has also been done on the textures and many objects. For example, when you used to play near the B plant, there was nothing interesting in the CT position, just dark walls and dampness around. Now, a large stained glass window has been added to one of the walls.

This greatly decorates and improves the map. However, the authors did not add some moments, such as well-known graffiti. You may remember the moment when a very young Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev, who played for Team Liquid, made incredible two no-scope shots with an AWP on this map. If you didn’t know, or maybe just want to see this moment again, ESL has created a special video on this topic, which you can see below.

As you can see, this graffiti is not just a drawing. It’s history, emotions, and experiences, and now this story is missing from the updated Cache.

However, perhaps before the map is officially added to the game, the graffiti and other elements will be reworked. So we look forward to the official release of the map in CS2.

Wrapping Up!

Cache is a legendary map where an incredible number of games and finals have been held. Every corner here is steeped in history, and we hope that Valve will soon officially add the map to the game so that we can create our own history on this map!
